To ensure that safety risks are minimised and your regulatory obligations are met, workers must undergo safety training and be qualified to the appropriate levels. Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction
Our Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction training course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to meet Queensland regulatory requirements for working in open-cut coal mining operations in Queensland.
Participants who achieve competency in the theory component of this course will receive a Statement of Completion and a partial completion Photo ID Card along with an On-Site Verification Workbook. This will allow them to enter a particular mine site for six months, complete all site induction requirements, work in a supervised situation and complete the workbook.
Participants will need to successfully complete and return their On-Site Verification Workbook to SGS Australia Pty Ltd so that it can be verified within six months of completing the theory course.
Upon successful completion of all the course requirements, a Photo ID Induction Card valid for five years and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for:
- RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
- RIIERR205D Apply initial first aid
- RIIGOV201D Comply with site work processes/procedures
- RIIRIS201D Conduct local risk control
- RIICOM201D Communicate in the workplace
- RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents

Site Safety Supervisor Training
This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes, conduct work related health and safety investigations in response to an incident, contribute to safe workplace and communicate successfully in the mining, drilling and civil infrastructure industries.
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for:
- RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
- RIIWHS301E Conduct safety and health investigations
- RIICOM301E Communicate information
This course is Nationally Recognised Training delivered by SGS Australia Pty Ltd RTO #2646.
Carry out the Risk Management Process (G2)
This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes, including planning, identifying hazards and assessing risk, and developing and implementing risk controls.
The course covers the following topics:
- Planning and preparation for implementing the risk management process
- Identifying hazards and assessing risk
- Assessment of workplace risks and identification of unacceptable risk levels
- Identification of potential actions and development of risk controls
- Implementation and evaluation of risk control
- Auditing the risk management process and completion of records
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for:
- RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process

MDG 25 Safe Cutting and Welding in Mines Awareness Training Course
MDG25 Safe Cutting and Welding in Mines awareness training minimises risks to personal health and safety where cutting and welding activities are being carried out at a mine site or in a product processing plant.
It is aimed at operators, managers, supervisors and engineers who conduct or supervise hot work at mine sites.
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
